HOST FAMILY NETWORKING
To provide support for our Hawaiian students in a new environment and climate while attending colleges on the mainland and on the neighboring islands. Having a "Home Away from Home" helps the student become acclimated to new surroundings while embraced by a family with Hawaii and Kamehameha connections.

Who are Host Families?
Host families are Kamehameha alumni who volunteer their homes and time in order that our college students are supported in a way they would want their own children or grand children to be taken cared of when far from home.
How are Host Families Selected?
After completing the Host Family sign up information, host families are matched as closely as possible to the student's existing family with likes, interests, etc. factored in. Sometimes, depending on the remoteness of the region, there are no alumni living in or near the student's college campus. we will try our best to find a host family. In each instance, we work closely with both families so that they get to know about each other before meeting the student in person. If possible, we include a photo of the host student for the host family.
When Would Families Host (Support) Students?
On Weekends or after Mid-terms and Finals (Depending on Host Families Schedule) Long Weekends or Thanksgiving when not able to return home to Hawaii, Pick up and Return to Airport before and after the school year if no transportation is available, or at Kamehameha activities in their respective regions.
