The Kamehameha Schools Kapalama String Orchestra will be touring British Columbia, Canada and will stop over in Seattle on their return trip to Honolulu. The Orchestra’s itinerary while in Seattle will include attending a Seattle Mariner baseball game, sightseeing and a musical exchange at Garfield High School. Nani Dudoit (coordinator) is looking forward to having the Orchestra perform for the Alumni, the greater Hawaiian community and the general public on Tuesday June 5, 2007 at the Dumas Bay Center Knutzen Family Theater, 3200 SW Dash Point Road, Federal Way, WA. Please contact Kiha Kinney for additional information.
The KSAA-NWR is partnering with the Wakinikona Hawaiian Club and assisting in the food concession at their annual Hawaiian Summer Festival on Saturday July 21, 2007. The Friday evening event is a fun one with lots of wala’au, cutting and chopping to make lomi salmon, poke, mac salad, and mix the poi. Saturday the volunteers will do the final prep of the food; re-steam the kalua pig, help with the BBQ chicken, cook rice, cut the cakes, ice the drinks and help serve the meals throughout the day. In the spirit of laulima, we’re asking the alumni to volunteer their time for either Friday, Saturday or both. Please contact Kiha Kinney for additional information.
The 7th Annual Northwest Region Student Connection, will be held in Seattle, Washington on Saturday November 3, 2007. As you may know, the Student Connection is the premier “get together” event of the year that bring the Hawaii students that are attending Colleges and Universities in the Northwest, to a day of talk story, games, pa’ina and answer questions pertaining to the professional workplace. The KSAA-NWR, is anticipating inviting KS staff to join our Northwest ohana in welcoming these industrious students and leaders of tomorrow, to the Student Connection. The future leaders of tomorrow will certainly be interested in the comments and updates concerning the Kamehameha Schools and direction into the future. Please contact Kiha Kinney or Kai Hanchett at jhanchett@hotmail.com for additional information.
